April 23rd - Everyone (except non-Christian) children visited the church to celebrate St george's day with Reverend Hugh.

The children who are not Christian stayed in school and had fun in the hall with the parachute and balls.

Then at lunchtime a special St George's day dinner was served. This was extremely popular.  Our Brownies, Cubs and Beavers all came in their "uniforms".

All in all it was a very different day.

Friday April 18th

We took part in a swimming Gala at Flitwick Leisure Centre.  12 schools participated in many different activites and we came second.

Maths in a suitcase

We all enjoyed trying to solve the problems.

Golf Tournament

9 teams of children from 3 schools participated in the tournament at beadlow Manor.  There were various tasks to improve driving and target skills.  It was a bitterly cold day (and very muddy)

but everyone enjoyed themselves.

We had 3 teams which came 5th, 3rd and 2nd place.

Science Day

Key Stage 2 looked at different things where the properties were changed. Dry ice bubbled.  Planes flew. Rockets flew. All accompanied by the wonderful smell of  melting chocolate!!

Key stage 2 have experienced a blanket dig.

This was demonstrated by people from Bedford Museum. Each blanket represents a layer of earth.

Year 2 are looking at the Great Fire of London.  Today firefighters visited from the Kempston Fire Brigade.

They come out to see Year 2 children every year.  One or two lucky children get to dress up too.

We were very lucky to send two teams of Year 4 children to the recent Tag Rugby Festival held at Ampthill Rugby Club. Fourteen schools from the Redborne Schools Partnership took part on 26th February.

All of the children played brilliantly throughout the day. The sun shone, the wind blew hard at times, the ground was very muddy but great sportsmanship was very evident and all the children enjoyed the experience. A number of parents came along to support the teams and give much needed encouragement.

Although one of our teams was not very successful in terms of winning matches the other team came second in their group and went into the semi final. Unfortunately they lost to Russell Lower School at this stage.

A most enjoyable day and an experience to be remembered.

Key Stage 2 recently made pizzas and the smells were heavenly!

Click here for the Cranfield Pizza recipe.

Reception children made kites and tested them in the wind.

Skipping workshop

We  have all learnt various different skipping techniques and demonstrated to the whole school.

8.2.08 - 4K went to Rectory Wood in Cranfield to plant trees with Guy, Andy and Andy from The Marston Vale Forestry Centre.  Thankfully it was a beautiful sunny day but it was incredibly muddy! The pupils worked in pairs and planted 4 or 5 trees each.
