Our school is a very happy place where children's individual progress and development are recognised and valued.

We visit the Church as often as we can.

This is a Voluntary Controlled, Church of England Lower School in a friendly, developing village.

Confidence in a school comes from knowing and understanding what is happening within it.  We hope you will extend your knowledge through contact and discussion with the Headteacher and the staff and take advantage of the many occasions when you will be invited to participate, to help and to watch.  It is important that mutual understanding and trust should be the basis for our shared responsibility.  We are partners in the education of your child.

The School was founded in 1865 to provide education according to the principles and practices of the Church of England.  This school remains legally owned by the Trustees of its Church of England Foundation , but is now controlled by the Local Education Authority, which has accepted full financial responsibility for its maintenance.  The Church remains represented on the Governing Body, thus fostering links between the School, the Church and the local community.

The aim of all Church Schools is to provide the best possible education for each child within the context of a caring Christian Community.

The church is called St Peter and St Paul.   We often visit the church throughout the year and Reverend Hugh is a frequent visitor often taking assemblies in school.  We now have Key Stage assemblies on a Tuesday.  This involves just the year groups in each Key Stage having assembly together.  This has allowed us to visit the church every two weeks.  We are really excited about this opportunity. We also have a group of story tellers called Open the Book.  They come into school every Thursday and act out a story from the bible.

This beautiful cross was given by Mrs B. Stubbings upon her retirement in December 2007.  Mrs Stubbings had been Head Teacher here for 10 years.
